1990: The Industrial Safety and Health Act of the Ministry of Labor was amended, and safety inspections for industrial elevators were initiated.
2. Establishment of Korea Elevator Safety Institute
1991: The Manufacture and Management of Elevators Act was enacted, and the Ministry of Elevators was established.

4. Unification of laws related to elevators
1996: The Manufacture and Management of Elevators Act was amended by the Ministry of Trade (to unify laws related to elevators)
5. Establishment of Korea Elevator Safety Technology Institute (KEST)
Dec. 9, 1997: Designated as a regular inspection agency for elevators pursuant to the Manufacture and Management of Elevators Act
June 29, 2000: Designated as the agency for installation/occasional/regular inspections of elevators based on the Manufacture and Management of Elevators Act
6. Construction of the world's highest test tower
1997: Dongyang Elevator built the world's highest test tower (157m) at its factory in Cheonan.
