The Korea Elevator Safety Agency (KoELSA) is ...
the only Korean institution specializing in elevator safety management (as an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Interior and Safety). It was established by integrating the Korea Elevator Safety Institute (KESI) and the Korea Elevator Safety Technology Institute (KEST) on July 1, 2016 pursuant to the Elevator Facilities Safety Management Act.

Inspects elevators to protect elevator users and prevent hazards associated with elevators. -
Conducts comprehensive and systematic investigation and research on all areas and tasks associated with elevators, including the advancement of elevator safety standards/system and technological development. -
Provides safety education for elevator users, improves the safety management capability of elevator managers, and trains technical professionals in the elevator industry. -
Provides information to administrative organizations, superintendents, and employees of elevator maintenance companies. -
Promotes safety awareness among the general public to advance the elevator safety culture and to prevent safety accidents. -
Exchanges and supports elevator safety technology through International Lift Expo Korea and global network. -
Conducts safety assurance activities and improves the performance of elevators based on diagnosis. -
Carries out safety certification, inspection, and diagnosis of hazardous machines and equipment and tower cranes.
